If you were to ask me the best way to start your Young Living Journey as far as purchases I would say.... No essential oils were not created overnight

What are essential oils? So many people often wonder what they are and how they came about. Essential oils are the volatile liquids that are distilled from plants including parts of the plants such as seeds, bark, leaves, stems, roots, flowers, fruit, etc. how long have essential oils been around? Essential oils were mankind's first medicine. From Egyptian hieroglyphics and Chinese manuscripts. There are 188 references to essential oils in the Bible such as frankincense, myrrh, rosemary, hyssop, and spikenard were used for anointing and healing the sick. So no these oils are not something that were created a few years ago and we are just now hearing about them. These oils were the very first medicines before the world became so conventional. It's just been since the late 19th century and early 20th century essential oils have been reintroduced into modern medicine.

It's that time of Year!

As I look at the calendar this is the last week in August! It is exactly one month until it is actually FALL!!! Everyone looks forward to the fall... crisp air, football games, bonfires, etc... Not me... Don't get me wrong yeah all that is fun. But I am more of a shorts, tank-top, flip flop wearing kind of girl.
It seems like when fall starts we see more and more colds,  coughs, flu, bronchitis, etc...
The following four are my go to for all that crud!
Thieves is a definite to keep in your home at all times! It is an amazing blend of highly antiviral, antiseptic, antibacterial, anti-infectious essential oils. This blend was created based on legends about a group of Thieves from the 15th century that rubbed oils on themselves to avoid contracting the plague while they robbed the bodies of the dead and dying. Yeah I'll take that kind of protection what about you? Yeah I'm not saying this is going to ever keep you from getting sick but you don't get as sick when you catch a bug. I use this daily on the bottom of my daughter's feet before venturing off to school or play.

Thieves

The next I strongly recommend keeping on hand is Oregano Oil. This is another oil that is a powerful antiviral, antibacterial. This particular oil was listed in Hildegard's Medicine, a compilation of early German medicines by highly regarded Benedictine herbalist Hildegard of Bingen. I use this in my home like I would an antibiotic. We add a few drops in a veggie capsules with V-6 vegetable oil along with Thieves (I'm a Thieves girl for sure) A good antibiotic bomb contains Oregano, Thieves, and Frankincense Oil (both Thieves and Frankincense can be found in the Everyday Oils Kit)

Oregano

R.C and Raven are a great combo to have to combat colds and respiratory disease and infections. R.C. gives relief from colds, bronchitis, sore throats, sinusitis, coughs, and respiratory congestion. It decongests sinus passages, combats lung infections, and relieves allergy symptoms. While Raven helps to fight against respiratory disease. It is highly antiviral and antiseptic. These two combos diffused help tremendously when battling all those fall/winter crud!

Essential Oils are aromatic liquids. They are distilled from flowers, trees, roots, bushes, and seeds of plants. The distillation process is what makes essential oils so concentrated. It often requires an entire plant or more to produce a single drop of distilled essential oil. For example, it takes thousands of flower petals to create the drops that are in a single bottle of rose oil, and adding just one drop of peppermint oil to a glass of water has approximately the same concentration as 20 bags of tea. The practice of using essential oils is commonly referred to as aromatherapy, and is used for physical and psychological well-being.
Essential Oils have a millennium-long history of use in healing and in religious ceremony throughout the ancient world. Some, particularly frankincense, are repeatedly cited in many Judeo-Christian and Muslim religious texts. Others, such as myrrh, lotus, and sandalwood oils were widely used in ancient Egyptian purification and embalming rituals. Thieves is an amazing blend of highly antiviral, antibacterial and anti-infectious essential oils. This oil was created from research based on legends about a group of 15th century thieves who rubbed oils on themselves to avoid contracting the plague while they robbed the bodies of the dead and dying. Studies conducted at Weber State University during 1997 demonstrated the killing power of these amazing oils (clove, lemon, cinnamon bark, eucalyptus, and rosemary) against airborne microorganisms. One analysis showed a 90 percent reduction in the number of gram positive Micrococcus luteus organisms after diffusing for 12 minutes. After 20 minutes of diffusing,the kill rate jumped to 99.3 percent. Another study against the gram negative Pseudomonas aeruginosa showed a kill rate of 99.96 percent after just 12 minutes of diffusion. I ABSOLUTELY love this oil it was my second purchase with Young Living along with the home diffuser. I apply to the girls feet before school or when we go out and about (especially in winter months during cold/flu season) I diffuse this oil in my home as an air freshener. I go on and on about Lavender. It is the first essential oil that I used and the one that introduced me to the Pureness of Young Living. I have smelled and used other brands of Lavender oil and they can not compare to Young Living brand. I personally use lemon essential oil mixed with Lavender, and Peppermint for my allergies. I also mix  4 drops Lemon Oil (detox and energy) 4 drops Grapefruit Oil (boost metabolism) 4 drops Peppermint Oil (curbs appetite) mixed in a capsule twice a day.  I love Lemon oil with my tea especially HOT tea! Purification cleanses and disinfects the air and neutralizes mildew, cigarette smoke, and disagreeable odors. It disinfects and cleanses cuts, scrapes and bites from spiders, bees, hornets and wasps. Well after our Lavender experience came fall time and what else comes besides changing weather??!! Oh cold season... The girls and I had gotten sick and of course momma always gets the worse end of everything! I had spoke to my Young Living friend, she had checked in on our use with the Lavender and making sure we received results...Of course I was hacking away and explained how we don't get sick that often but when we do it really kicks our butts! Her response"You need some Thieves"! Thieves... What is Thieves???

Thieves is a highly antibacterial, antiviral, antiseptic, and anti-infectious essential oils of Clove, Lemon, Cinnamon Bark, Eucalyptus, and Rosemary. It was created from research based on legends about a group of 15th Century thieves who rubbed oils on themselves to avoid contacting the plague while they robbed the bodies of the dead and dying. When apprehended , the thieves were forced to tell what their secret was and disclosed the formula of the herbs, spices, and oils they used to protect themselves in exchanged for more lenient punishment.

Studies conducted at Weber State University (Ogden, UT) during 1997 demonstrated the killing power of these amazing oils against airborne microorganisms. One analysis showed a 90 percent reduction in the number of gram positive Micrococcus lutes organisms after diffusing for 12 minutes. After 20 minutes of diffusing, the kill rate jumped to 99.3 percent. Another study against the gram negative Pseudomonas aeruginosa showed a kill rate of 99.96 percent after just 12 minutes of diffusion.
